Just as its name suggests, The Sparrow’s version of an open mic night combines two of your favorite things: drinking and laughing at others. Or is it just laughing? You decide when you come out to this stand-up comedy night every Monday. The Sparrow’s Neil Bansil says the event is great for every comedian — veteran or brand new. “The beauty of [the event] is that you have comedians who will consistently get laughs and then newcomers who have no idea what they’re doing,” says Bansil, adding that The Sparrow — “a little bar off the beaten path”— can boast Park Circle’s longest running stand up comedy night. Lucky (and we’re assuming funny) comedians may even get the chance to open for headliners when they perform at The Sparrow on Thursday nights. Everyone has a good time — as long as you aren’t this guy: “And then there will be the ones who aren’t even telling jokes, but they think they’re funny,” says Bansil.
